Comparative sequence analysis of a genus-common rickettsial antigen gene.

چکیده
The genes encoding the 17-kilodalton genus-common antigen have been cloned and sequenced from Rickettsia conorii, Rickettsia prowazekii, and Rickettsia typhi. Compared with the R. rickettsii sequence, this sequence had a high degree of homology within the coding and control regions (R. conorii, 99.8%; R. prowazekii, 88.1%; R. typhi, 88.7%). The 5' flanking regions, including the promoter and the transcription initiation sites, were extremely well conserved for all four species, suggesting that control and expression of this locus are important to the survival of the rickettsiae.

A comparative phylogenetic analysis of Theileria spp. by using two two "18S ribosomal RNA" and "Theileria annulata merozoite surface antigen" gene sequences
More than 185 species, strains and unclassified Theileria parasites are categorized in the Entrez Taxonomy. The accurate diagnosis and proper identification of the causative agents are important for understanding the epidemiology, prevention and appropriate treatment. This study aims to discuss the importance of two genes of Theileria annulata 18S ribosomal RNA (18S rRNA) and Theileria annulata...
متن کاملCloning and molecular characterization of Omp31 gene from Brucella melitensis Rev 1 strain
Brucellosis, caused by the genus Brucella bacterium, is a well-known infection among domestic animals. Considering the serious economic and medical consequences of this infection, various preventive efforts have been made through using recombinant vaccines, based on outer membrane protein (OMP) antigens of Brucella species. The objective of the present study was to clone, analyze the sequence, ...
متن کاملCloning and sequencing of Toxoplasma gondii major surface antigen (SAG1) gene
Genetic typing methods of T. gondii strains have been extensively perfected in recent years. From a technical point of view, many tools usable for genetic studied on single-copy loci have been used: RFLP, PCR-RFLP, sequencing, RAPD-PCR and isoenzyme analysis. We described the cloning and sequence analysis of the gene which encodes the major surface antigen (SAG1 or P30) of T. gondii. SAG1 is ...
متن کاملIsolation of a Rickettsial Pathogen from a Non-Hematophagous Arthropod
Rickettsial diversity is intriguing in that some species are transmissible to vertebrates, while others appear exclusive to invertebrate hosts. Of particular interest is Rickettsia felis, identifiable in both stored product insect pests and hematophagous disease vectors. To understand rickettsial survival tactics in, and probable movement between, both insect systems will explicate the determin...
متن کاملNucleotide sequence analysis of the Second Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS2) in Hyalomma anatolicum anatolicum in Iran
Ticks are important acarina that infest animals. They are obligatory blood sucker arthropods which economically impact cattle industry by reducing weight gain and production. Moreover, they are important vectors of viral, bacterial, rickettsial and parasitic pathogens infecting humans and animals. In view of the importance of Hyalomma anatolicum anatolicum in pathogen transmission, including Th...
